About Us
At the heart of Taifa McLarin’s practice lies a commitment to uplifting and empowering women of color through culturally attuned, evidence-based mental health support. With more than two decades of professional experience, Taifa offers a safe, nurturing, and inclusive virtual therapy environment designed to foster authentic self-expression, resilience, and lasting personal fulfillment.
Taifa McLarin is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), holding advanced degrees in Bereavement Studies, Post-Secondary Education & Psychology, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her extensive clinical background spans hospice care, social service agencies, and private practice, equipping her to support clients from a diverse array of backgrounds and life stages.
Today Taifa specializes in working with adult female BIPOC clients, focusing on holistic wellbeing and the unique challenges that women of color often face, such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, and women’s issues. Her commitment extends beyond individual therapy to advocacy for marginalized communities and the advancement of culturally competent mental health care.
Every woman’s journey is shaped by her lived experiences, cultural heritage, and the intersection of social, economic, and biological influences. Taifa’s therapeutic approach is rooted in multicultural and multimodal frameworks, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Black Psychology, Black Feminist Therapy, and other evidence-based modalities.
By integrating these approaches, Taifa ensures that every client’s cultural identity, values, and strengths are honored and woven into the counseling process. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience; it’s a collaborative, dynamic partnership that adapts to each client’s evolving needs and aspirations.
Taifa offers individual, and group counseling in a flexible virtual format, making support accessible and convenient. Her services address a wide range of treatment areas, including:

Statistics show that Black women face significant mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, often influenced by life transitions and societal pressures. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, Black women are nearly twice as likely to report serious psychological distress compared to white women. Additionally, research published by the American Psychiatric Association indicates that about 10% of Black women experience symptoms of depression, but they are less likely to receive treatment due to stigma and access barriers. Life transitions such as career changes, family responsibilities, and discrimination can further increase vulnerability to anxiety and depressive symptoms. These numbers highlight the importance of culturally sensitive care and supportive spaces designed to meet the unique needs of Black women.
